Medal confirmed on roll. Charles Michael O'Connell was born in Manchester and enlisted 1887, aged 18. Served in India 1889 to 1895. Discharged 1899. Re-called May 1899. Entitled to Queen's South Africa Medal with 3 clasps. Discharged August 1903. Medal roll and service record does not state drummer. Naming obviously altered at some time.

William John Wootten served with the Royal Field Artillery in France from 30 April 1915. Group came with a Defence Medal and a small framed photograph.

William Lawrence Marshall was born in Ilford, Essex and enlisted into The Queen's Regiment May 1890. Served in Malta, East Indies and South Africa. Entitled to Queen's South Africa Medal (5 clasps) and King's South Africa Medal (2 clasps). Discharged August 1902. Re-enlisted August 1914, aged 43. To France 12 May 1915. Tried and sentenced to 56 days for drunk on active service. Sent back to UK 26 November 1915. He died 9th February 1947.

George Holden was from Gateshead and served with 9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry. Gunshot wound right side of chest 10 June 1916 at Ypres. After treatment he returned and was wounded 25 July 1918 (shrapnel wound head). Demobilised February 1919.

Alfred Dickinson son a Military Medal with the West Yorkshire Regiment (London Gazette 19 November 1917). He came from Leeds and was discharged due to wounds (Silver War Badge).

George Turner was born 1893, enlisted 1st Battalion 7 September 1914. To France 10 February 1915. Wounded in the leg May 1915. Discharged January 1919 with a Silver War Badge. Lived in Newton Cottages, North Leach, Gloucestershire.

William Thomas Pascoe enlisted in the Coldstream Guards February 1913, aged 18. To France 13 August 1914 (claimed clasp). Discharged 15 July 1915 due to GSW right hand.

John Robert Steel was from Gloucester and enlisted into the Royal Warwickshire Regiment December 1915, aged 21. To France 15 June 1917. Wounded right eye 23 August 1917. Discharged November 1918 (Silver War Badge).

George Maurice Fitzgerald was born in Islington, London and served with 9th Battalion London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles). He was killed in action in France 25 September 1916. He is listed on the Thiepval Memorial. Sold with 9th London's cap badge.

Henry Howard, Army Ordnance Corps, was mentioned in despatches for service in Mesopotamia (London Gazette 12 Janaury 1920). Sold with both types of cap badge and pair of collar badges.

Edward Smith was born in Birmingham in February 1879. He went to France 8 November 1914. He was captured at Fleurbaix 19 December 1914. Pension card shows wounds to head and abdomen.

Thomas Girtley enlisted November 1902, aged 14, and served in India Sept. 1903 to October 1906. Africa 1906 to December 1910. L/Cpl. August 1912. Cpl. June 1913. To France 15 August 1914. Discharged 14 December 1915 on termination of engagement. Entitled to 1914 Star and clasp trio. He died in 1961.

Thomas Pickup was born 1876 and lived in Bolton. Enlisted February 1915 with the East Lancashire Regiment.
To France 19 May 1915. Wounded right leg 7 July 1916 at Contalmaison. Transferred to 67 Company, Labour Corps. Discharged April 1919.

William Higgins was born in Gloucester and enlisted into the Gloucestershire Regiment, went to France 19 December 1914. Transferred to the Machine Gun Corps.
Died of wounds 11 July 1916, aged 28. Listed at Etaples Military Cemetery.

John Charles Burgess served with 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and was wounded in the left shoulder and captured at Epehy, 22 March 1918. He was from Stroud Green, London.

Percival Albert Edward Mason was born in Stroud in 1896 and enisted in the Royal Marine Light Infantry in September 1914. Posted to Reservist Depot, Deal until April 1915, when he joined Plymouth Division. January 1916 posted to HMS Revenge (Battleship), which served at Jutland. Discharged in 1919.

Copy service record. Duncan Bruce Watson was born 19 October 1912 in Port Elizabeth and was living in Umbilo Road, Durban when he enlisted into the South African Service Corps.
Posted to 1 Supply Company, Q Service Corps December 1940 in Mombasa. Acting Lance-Corporal October 1941. Discharged 1 October 1945. Medals confirmed on papers.
He died in Durban 6 July 1961.
